Winter Woolies

This term the SRC are raising money for the Australian Lutheran World Services for projects in Aisa. For a gold coin donation students can their wear their ‘Winter Woolies’, e.g.  Oodies, track pants, ugg boots, scarves and beanies. So don’t forget to add  Wear your Winter Woolies day on Friday the 25th of June to your calendar.

Concert

This year the MLC are involved in school concert which will be held on Wednesday 28th July (Matinee Performance) and the night performance will Thursday 29th July.  We will provide you with more information about ticketing next term. We have already been rehearsing songs and allocating parts to the students. We ask for your support by rehearsing lines with your child (memorizing them) and providing a costume next term.

The following items will be needed for their costume anything else will be made at school.

Truffala Tree

  • Black or brown trackies or leggings and green t-shirt. (Please no words or pictures on the front of T-Shirt or trackies.

Swans

  • White or pale colour leggings with a white t-shirt. If you have a tutu they may wear it and if it is coloured one we will try to match it with the wings we are making at school.

Bears

  • Brown or black trackies or leggings (to get the fluffy affect on the outside maybe the trackies could be worn inside out). Windcheater or t-shirt in a similar colour. Some children may have onies or bear costumes already they can wear.

Fish

  • Blue trackies or leggings and a blue t-shirt (the school PE uniform will be fine). We will make the fish at school.

Once-Ler Family and Sales Agents-

  •  Business shirt with tie, black or grey pants (school pants would be fine).  Girls may like to wear a skirt and business jacket something that looks like office attire.

Family

  • Camping clothes

If at any time you feel overwhelmed with sourcing your child costume, please contact your classroom teacher for assistance.

With Thanks

Sport Uniform Track Pants

We have received word from Worklocker that they are having difficulty getting their supply of track pant material for our school sport uniform.

They are not sure when this will arrive and so, for those who are waiting for their order to be filled, your child is welcome to wear alternate track pants until the new ones arrive.  Students may also wear shorts on sport days if they prefer.

Worklocker have assured me that this is the only uniform item they are currently waiting for.

Hahndorf Main Street Traffic Consultation

Many of you will be aware of the consultation underway around major changes to traffic infrastructure in and around Hahndorf.  I have been approached by parents who are concerned about the plan to remove the signalled pedestrian crossing near the post office, in preference for a wallaby crossing (similar to the one outside of Otto’s Bakery).

I have been in contact with the Department of Infrastructure and Transport to discuss this plan and will be meeting with one of the engineers on the project and the liaison team to find out more about this element of the plan and how it is safer for our children than the current signalled crossing.

The official consultation period finishes this coming Monday.  If you are interested in giving feedback on the plan, you can lodge this at:

Week 6 Update

St Michael’s Choir

Thursday was the first rehearsal of the new St Michael’s School Choir. Miss Zerner was so impressed by how well the students participated and sang.  They were wonderful!

There were quite a large number of children who came along to ‘have a go’ at choir to see if they like it.

If your child tried choir this week but has not yet officially signed up, please register them at this link:

https://payit.nelnet.net/form/61uKx7Y9

We need to know that parents are aware of their children’s involvement and are happy for them to continue.  Only children who are registered will be able to participate from the next rehearsal on 17th June.

Hopefully it won’t be too long before we see our first performance!

Chapel Offering

This term chapel offering is going towards ALWS for projects for those less fortunate. Please encourage your child to donate.

Winter hygiene

A reminder that students should not be sent to school if unwell. Now is a good time to give their iPad’s a clean to help minimise the spread of germs.

Kind regards
